C43995 Sell $2950 |
The Colt
factory records indicate that Commercial Models were produced in the serial
range between C24700 – C84530 during 1916. While only a Colt Historical
letter can provide an exact date of shipment, this pistol was most likely
manufactured by mid-year 1916. With a Type 2 safety lock, hammer, Roman
lettered slide logo and the newer style 1914 slide stop with machined plunger
groove this pistol is correct for it’s serial range. The original barrel is
in excellent condition with proper proofing. Also present is the typical “S”
stamp by the receiver disconnector hole indicating what Colt called a “Sales”
pistol and not destined for a military order. This pistol retains
approximately 80% original bright oven bluing with scattered areas of wear
from a holster and from firing but it has NO rust or pits. This is an honest,
attractive example of an early 1911 Commercial that is original in every way. |

C120500 Sell $2750 |
Produced in 1919 this post WW1 Commercial
Model has the Type 3 long, rounded hammer introduced at approximately serial
number C99000. Also of note are the Type 4 slide markings. The Rampant Colt
has been moved to mid-slide between the patent and address lines and they are
now stamped using a block style lettering font which continued thru
approximately serial number C125000. Less noticeable is the reshaping of the
recoil spring housing. This pistol like many 1919 and 1920 production used a
reclaimed M1911 receiver. This pistol retains approximately 90-92.5% original
bright oven blue. Wear is along the edges and an area along the upper left
slide, which is probably from a holster. |
